97th Annual Huron County Plowing Match this week

A full field of competitors is ready to dig in at the 97th annual Huron County Plowing Match.

Paul and Kathy Dodds are hosting the event on August 14 and 15 at their farm outside of Seaforth at Winthrop.

"On Thursday, we have our junior plowing day, followed by their attempt at plowing in the afternoon, the Princess of the Furrow also happens that day," Paul Dodds explained. "At one o'clock, there will be lunch on site that day as well."

Friday gets underway with breakfast before the activities begin.

"Plowing registration will take place from eight o'clock till nine, and plowing begins shortly after," he added. "Through the day, there's also the Queen of Furrow competition as well, some demonstrations more towards the technological side of things, with some robotic and drone information."

Paul plowed for Canada at the world championships, but this is the Dodds first time hosting the Huron County Plowing match. The Dodds family has been involved with the Huron Plowmen's Association for generations, and Paul has been active in the competitive plowing scene for decades.
