New owners of Royal Homes planning major expansion

One of Ontario’s longest-standing housing manufacturers is entering a new era. Royal Homes Limited has been acquired by a management group led by Sid Kerrigan, a prominent industry leader and long-time President of Brookfield Residential’s Ontario housing division.

A media release said the Wingham-based company, operating out of a 115,000 square foot facility, has built a strong reputation over 55 years for delivering excellence in modular and custom-built housing. Now, under new leadership, Royal Homes is poised to scale up its operations in response to Ontario’s urgent housing needs.

“Our market needs a faster, more efficient way to construct and deliver new homes, and Royal Homes will play a lead role in driving that innovation forward,” said Kerrigan in a statement announcing the acquisition. “Though we will remain focused on delivering the highest-quality custom homes, our plant has significant available productive capacity, so we will partially pivot towards more repeatable housing designs, across a range of built forms.”

Kerrigan also announced plans to expand Royal Homes’ dealer network throughout Ontario and to enhance partnerships with municipalities and First Nations communities to accelerate housing supply in areas facing the greatest need.

A significant financial investment in the Wingham manufacturing facility is expected to generate hundreds of new jobs over the next three to five years. This expansion will bolster the company’s output while delivering a meaningful boost to the local economy.

“Royal Homes is an integral part of the Wingham community. We are committed to growing our investment and productive output in Wingham while generating high-quality jobs and meaningful housing solutions,” Kerrigan said.

The acquisition was financed with the support of BDC, BDC Capital, and CIBC.
