Grab a lawn chair, a blanket, and some popcorn.
Georgian Bluffs will bring back its outdoor summer movie series next month with two free family films.
The first screening is scheduled for August 1 at Cobble Beach Resort, where "A Minecraft Movie" will be featured. The 2025 American fantasy adventure comedy is based on the popular Minecraft video game and stars Jason Mamoa and Jack Black. Doors open at 7 p.m. with the movie to start at 8:30 p.m.
The second movie night is set for August 22 at Balmy Beach Ball Diamond. The 1993 American coming-of-age baseball comedy "The Sandlot" will be shown. Doors open at 7 p.m. with show time scheduled for 8 p.m.
People planning to attend are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and bug spray. While there will be no car viewing option at the August 1 movie screening, the August 22 movie will have some space for those who want to watch from their vehicle.
"These nights are perfect for families looking to spend some quality time together, or for movie lovers looking to enjoy some great films under the stars," the township said in a statement. "With lots of space to spread out and fun lawn games to play before the movie, there's something for everyone to enjoy on a summer night in Georgian Bluffs."
The township is working to bring a special third movie night to Derby Community Centre in October where a Halloween film will be screened. Details will be posted when they become available at georgianbluffs.ca/communityevents.
