Saugeen Shores to hold information session on Southampton south area drainage

The Town of Saugeen Shores will soon host a public information session on Southampton south area drainage.

According to a media release from the Town of Saugeen Shores, the public session will be on Tuesday, July 22 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Community Hall in the St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Southampton.

The information session is on the ongoing Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study for Storm System Outlets 11, 12, 13A, 13B, and 14 catchment areas.

Early in 2024, Saugeen Shores staff completed the Master Drainage Plan, which assessed current and future drainage needs and identified areas with existing challenges. Based on the plan's findings, the Saugeen Shores staff "initiated a Class Environmental Assessment in partnership with Aquafor Beech Limited to evaluate options and identify preferred solutions," according to the release.

Residents will see an overview of the project at the public information session, including background information, study objectives, and preliminary findings. Town staff and consultants from Aquafor Beech Limited will be available to answer questions and gather feedback from residents and stakeholders.

Staff are seeking solutions for the following storm system outlets:

  • Outlet 11 – Adelaide Street

  • Outlet 12 – Island Street

  • Outlet 13A – Bay Street

  • Outlet 13B – Watercourse South of Bay Street

  • Outlet 14 – Huron Street South

The study area includes municipal lands and easements within the catchment areas between High Street and South Street.
