A manufacturing defect has resulted in the recall of hundreds of thousands of Nissan vehicles in Canada and the U.S.
According to a notice from Nissan Canada, a total of 37,837 vehicles sold in Canada are being recalled due to an engine issue that may increase the likelihood of a crash.
"As part of Nissan Group’s ongoing commitment to customer safety, Nissan and Infiniti are recalling certain vehicles in the U.S. and Canada due to a potential bearing manufacturing defect that could lead to engine damage or, in some cases, engine failure," said Nissan Canada spokesman Didier Marsaud.
The recalled vehicles include the following.
2021 to 2024 Nissan Rogues, with 26,592 units recalled
2019 to 2020 Nissan Altima, with one vehicle under the description
2019 to 2022 INFINITI QX50s, with 10,456 vehicles recalled
2022 INFINITI QX55s, with 788 vehicles
Owners of the affected vehicles will receive a recall notice in the mail beginning later this summer. The issue will be corrected at Nissan and Infiniti dealerships.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, as reported by Reuters, reported over 443,000 vehicles covered by the recall across the U.S.
