The Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board has passed a "balanced" $99.5 million budget for the 2025–26 school year, with a focus on faith, learning, and student well-being.
"This is more than a financial document, it’s a strategic response to the needs of our students, families, and communities," said Alecia Lantz, Executive Superintendent of Business.
The budget includes $89.4 million in operating costs (up 3.1% from last year) and $10.1 million in capital investments, including $4.4 million toward a new Catholic high school in Owen Sound. 17 new full-time positions will be added across the system, which is expected to serve just over 5,090 students this year.
More than 2,000 people provided input through a public consultation process. Key priorities included mental health, inclusive education, and supports for students with exceptionalities. The Board is also tackling financial pressures like rising labour costs and facility space constraints, with a current utilization rate over 113%.
Director of Education Karyn Bruneel called the budget "a financial expression of faith, care, and dedication to our shared future."
