Perth County Stewardship Program opens fall intake

Perth County will open the intake for applications for its stewardship program for the fall on July 2.

This grant program "supports local landowners and community groups in enhancing the natural environment through projects focused on planting windbreaks, block plantings, forest restoration, forest health assessments, and community tree sale events," according to a media release from Perth County.

Grants can go towards a number of things. That includes protective windbreaks on private property, community tree plantings, assessing and restoring local forest health and much more.

Anyone interested in applying should review the 2025 Program Guide prior to applying. The guide offers helpful tips and guidance to prepare a successful application.

Beginning in 2024, the stewardship program has already seen over 18,800 trees planted, resulting in 27.6 km of new windbreak and 26.8 acres of reforestation or rehabilitation of forested lands.

The deadline to apply is September 15. For more information, to request a copy of the 2025 Program Guide, or for assistance with your application, please visit www.perthcounty.ca/stewardship or contact Hannah Cann, Resilience and Stewardship Coordinator.
