Huron County opening applications for Starter Company Plus on Canada Day

Applications for Huron County's Starter Company Plus program will open on Canada Day.

According to a media release from the county, the program is offered through the County of Huron’s Business Centre.

It "equips entrepreneurs with training, mentorship, and coaching to help them launch, grow, or purchase a small business. Participants also have a chance to receive a grant of up to $5,000.," according to the media release.

Aspiring entrepreneurs must submit a completed intake form by 4:00 p.m. on July 31, 2025. Applicants will be invited to a brief interview, and successful candidates will be notified by mid-August.

The program runs from September through November and offers educational sessions on things like business planning, marketing, finances and much more.

Applicants have to complete a business plan package to be considered for a grant.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
