OPP and Coast Guard rescue six-year-old on Lake Huron

The Huron County OPP Marine Unit rescued a six-year-old child that floated into Lake Huron on an inflatable.

In a post to the social media site "X", the OPP said the Huron Marine Unit and the Canadian Coast Guard both responded on June 23 just after noon after a child on an inflatable was blown out from shore on Lake Huron near Black's Point Beach just south of Goderich.

Luckily, rescuers were able to quickly locate the child and safely brought them ashore. The child was located about 500-700 metres from the beach and was wearing a personal flotation device and was in good health.

Police are urging parents and guardians to be mindful and keep an eye on kids playing in the lake, as things can happen extremely quickly, especially in windy conditions and high waves.
