MS Chi-Cheemaun celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day with vendors market

The Owen Sound Transportation Company will host the first-ever Indigenous Arts and Crafts Vendors market onboard the MS Chi-Cheemaun on Saturday.

In celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day, passengers sailing aboard the Chi-Cheemaun during the day on June 21 will have the unique opportunity to browse and purchase handmade arts and crafts directly from local, Indigenous artisans. There will also be cultural demonstrations, music, and dancing on the afternoon sailings (1:15 and 3:30 p.m.).

Indigenous peoples will receive free passage aboard the Chi-Cheemaun all day Saturday.

The evening trips will not have a market or events, but OSTC says Indigenous-made merchandise will be available in the Chi-Cheemaun’s onboard gift shop throughout the 2025 sailing season. That includes ribbon skirts, moccasins, dreamcatchers, T-shirts featuring original Indigenous artwork, charm earrings and other handmade jewelry.
