Brightshores Health System says it has completed the necessary steps to begin selling the former Markdale hospital site.
The hospital was last operational until roughly two years ago, when the new one opened its doors on September 24, 2023. There were several break-ins there since patients and staff left.
Brightshores says the building and land at the legacy site will no longer be used for hospital operations. As a result, it has completed steps with Ontario Health West and the Ministry of Health to dispose of the hospital site.
The Health System is now working to engage a local real estate agency to sell the property.
