Cruise Day aims to raise funds for Kincardine hospital expansion

Car enthusiasts can double their hospital donation dollars when they roll into Kincardine for an upcoming cruise night.

The Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, which is working to raise $18 million to expand the Kincardine hospital and purchase a much-needed MRI for the health care facility, has announced during the Giving Cruise Day on June 27 all donation will be matched up to $25,000. Local residents Stephanie and Todd Farrell have offered up the dollar-for-dollar pledge.

"Giving back to this community is something we truly believe in," said Stephanie, who is the newest member of the foundation's board of directors. "Kincardine and our local communities deserve a hospital that can meet the growing needs of its residents, and we’re proud to help make that a reality. We hope our matching donation inspires others to participate in helping to raise the $18 million-dollar local share required to ensure this redevelopment happens to provide modern, expanded services and lifesaving technology for Kincardine, Huron-Kinloss, and Bruce County.”

The cruise day will see classic cars fill Queen Street between Lambton Street and Durham Market Street North in Kincardine. Last year, the event raised $86,000.

The foundation will have a table setup in front of HuronTel where donations can be made during the show. For those who can't make it in person to the event, donations can also be submitted online at www.kincardinefoundation.ca.

The foundation is a non-profit organization that's sole purpose is to raise funds for the local hospital.
