A pair of new hires at the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority will work to protect the area from flooding and erosion.
Jaden Schoelier and Maliheh (Millie) Ghorbankhani have joined the conservation authority as water and planning technicians.
Schoelier, a St. Marys native, has an advanced diploma in civil engineering technology from Fanshawe College and has prior consulting experience in geotechnical and civil engineering. Ghorbankhani brings seven years of experience working in agricultural water management. She has a master's degree in natural resource management from Lakehead University and an undergraduate degree in agriculture water engineering from the University of Tehran.
“We are very fortunate to have bright, positive, knowledgeable and experienced people step into these important roles,” Geoffrey Cade, the conservation authority's water and planning manager, said in a statement. “Millie and Jaden bring many new skills and positive attributes. This will be of great benefit to their work, with people in this watershed, to protect life and property from natural hazards such as flooding and erosion.”
The pair officially began their new roles with the conservation authority last month.
