A single vehicle collision on Wednesday has halted train traffic between Stratford and Goderich.
A dump truck that was too tall to pass under the 12'4" clearance struck the Goderich Exeter Railway (GEXR) bridge on Perth Road 145, south of Perth Line 34.
Upon inspection, both the bridge and track were found to have sustained damage and, as a result, were temporarily taken out of service.
A spokesperson for GEXR said contractors and supplies for repair are set to arrive Friday, and they hope to have the bridge and track back in service by mid-week next week.
Perth County OPP say Perth Line 145 will also be closed between Perth Line 34 and Perth Line 32 for approximately one week while repairs are underway.
As a result of the collision, a 47-year-old Stratford man has been charged with careless driving.
Police remind all drivers to always be aware of their surroundings, including height and weight restrictions for vehicles on specific roadways.
