Donors help Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority buy new trail mobile

Generous donors have helped Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) purchase a new South Huron Trail mobile.

A media release from the ABCA shares that the project is supported in part by the AccessSLED grant, an initiative of the Huron County Accessibility Advisory Committee to improve accessibility across the County of Huron.

The new mobile vehicle can seat five instead of three now, and is operated with the generosity of volunteer drivers Norm Eckel and Jim Hayter.

Now, people with mobility issues can more easily access the natural beauty of the South Huron Trail.

People with limited mobility, who would like to enjoy nature on the South Huron Trail, on the Trail Mobile, can contact Ausable Bayfield Conservation, during regular business hours, at 519-235-2610 or toll-free 1-888-286-2610 to arrange a ride and they will contact the volunteer drivers. Rides depend on volunteer availability and weather.

"This new South Huron Trail Mobile is only possible thanks to the generosity of our donors," said Nathan Schoelier, Stewardship, Land and Education Manager with the ABCA. "I would like to thank donors Bob Down, Norm Eckel, and Jim and Fran Sweitzer for their generosity. We are pleased to be able to work closely with such a motivated community and help them see their vision through. This is a unique opportunity that allows more people to experience and appreciate the natural world around them."
