Saugeen Shores Police says it has charged a 32-year-old man with sexual assault of a minor, stemming from an April investigation.
On April 26, police received a report of an assault that occurred the previous day.
According to police, a 32-year-old man used Snapchat to connect with a minor and begin conversation. The man picked up the teen and her friend in his vehicle and then went to the City of Owen Sound to pick up a fourth person known to the girls.
The vehicle then returned to a parking lot in Saugeen Shores where the accused provided alcohol to the occupants in the vehicle before continuing to the accused’s residence.
Police say during the course of the evening the accused kissed and touched the victim in a sexual manner.
As a result of the investigation, the man is charged with luring a person under 16 years, sexual assault on a person under 16 years, sexual interference and knowingly supplying liquor to a person under 19 years.
The man was released on an undertaking with conditions and a future court date. The charges have not been proven in court.
Police say due to a publication ban, no further information will be released at this time.
