Basketball tourney and raffle organized by Walkerton crash victim going ahead

A basketball tournament and charity raffle organized by one of the five victims of the recent Walkerton tragedy is going ahead.

Olivia Rourke had worked to organize a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and raffle to raise money for Breast Cancer Canada. Rourke's mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, and Olivia worked hard to put together an event to combine two of her passions, her mom and basketball.

According Walkerton District Community School teacher and coach Vince Yenssen, the WDCS community is ensuring the tournament and raffle happen in Olivia's memory.

The Hoops for Hope basketball tournament will be held Saturday, June 7 at WDCS from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. A raffle and silent auction will raise funds for Breast Cancer Canada. The silent auction runs until June 14, with prizes that include Raptors tickets and local shopping sprees.
