Teen accused of pulling imitation gun, assaulting partner during dispute

A 19-year-old is facing over a half a dozen charges after a person was assaulted and threatened with what turned out to be a imitation gun in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.

South Bruce OPP were called about the incident on Saturday.

Investigators determined a dispute between intimate partners escalated with one, armed with a handgun, assaulting the other. After a brief struggle with officers one person was taken into custody.

The handgun seized was determined to be an imitation firearm, police said.

A 19-year-old from Arran-Elderslie is charged with assault, assault with intent to resist arrest, pointing a firearm, possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of failing to comply with release order, and three counts of uttering threats to cause death. The accused has been remanded into custody, police said.
