The public is being asked for input on what the Township of Georgian Bluffs should do with a century old bridge that has been shuttered for the past seven years.
Feedback on the Sideroad 3 Bridge is being collected through a recently launched online survey. The bridge, built in 1925, sits above Keady Creek on Sideroad 3 between Grey Bruce Line and Concession 11, southeast of Tara. The structure has been blocked off since 2018 when a condition assessment found its concrete had cracked, its foundation was exposed, and walls were shifting. Engineers determined the aging bridge's wear to be too severe to be repaired.
The township is now, through an environment assessment, looking at what to do with the bridge. The three options being pitched are removing the bridge, replacing it, or keeping it closed as is. Through the 10 question survey, the public can weigh in on the future of the bridge.
"Feedback will help the township choose the best solution for safety, cost, and the environment," Georgian Bluffs officials said in a statement.
The survey, open until June 25, can be found at www.engagegb.ca/sideroad-3-bridge.
