The fundraising campaign to bring a new diving board to a community pool in Brockton is up another couple thousand dollars.
The municipality announced on Thursday that Cargill and District Community Foundation (CDCF) has donated $2,000 toward the Centennial Park Pool Diving Board Project.
“We are truly grateful for the support from the Cargill and District Community Foundation," said Recreation Programming Supervisor Lisa Fagan. "Each donation moves us closer to this new addition the community has been asking for. We deeply appreciate CDCF’s continued commitment to our community and contributions of support.”
Centennial Park Pool in Walkerton has been without a diving board since its previous board was removed during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was determined the aging board had reached the end of its lifespan. Since then there has been strong public interest in adding a new diving board to the pool to enhance the experience for swimmers of all ages, as well as attract more visitors to the pool and promote health and fitness through aquatic recreation.
Through the Centennial Park Pool Diving Board Project, the municipality aims to raise $17,441.83 of the $34,883.66 needed to cover the cost of the new diving board, its stand, delivery and the installation. The municipality is continuing to reach out to local organizations and residents for support with the hope of having the new diving board installed this summer.
Anyone interested in donating can contact the Community Services Department by email at recreation@brockton.ca, by calling 519-881-0625 Ext. 2 or visiting the Walkerton Recreation Office at 290 Durham St. West in person.
