SIU investigating after man shot by OPP officer in Collingwood

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is looking into a police-involved shooting in Collingwood that left a 50-year-old man in hospital.

The incident happened around 5 p.m. on May 21, 2025 when Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a disturbance call at a home on Rhonda Road. The SIU says there was an interaction between a man and an officer, who then fired her gun. The man remains in hospital. Two SIU investigators and two forensic officers have been assigned to the case.
