The West Grey Public Library is inviting residents to roll up their sleeves and fix what’s broken.
First up, on Saturday, May 24, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the Library, in partnership with Earth Works West Grey, will host an "FBI: Fix Broken Items" event at Durham Town Hall. Commonly known as a Repair Café, the event encourages residents to bring broken but portable household items, like small appliances, lamps, toys, bikes, and clothing, to see if they can be fixed rather than thrown away.
Volunteer fixers will be on hand with tools, parts, and know-how to help save items from the landfill. The Library is also on the lookout for more volunteers with repair skills or enthusiasm to share their knowledge.
Then, on Wednesday, May 28 at 7 p.m., the Library hosts its popular Trivia Night at The Country Corner in Durham. This fundraiser invites teams of two to six people, aged 14 and up, to test their trivia chops while supporting the Library’s programs. The cost is $10 per person, and participants are encouraged to arrive by 6 p.m. if they wish to order food before the game begins.
Pre-registration is required for both events. Sign up on Eventbrite, at the Durham Branch, by phone at 519-369-2107, or by emailing adultprograms@westgreylibrary.com.
