Charge laid in March crash that killed one person in North Perth

Nearly two months after a 35-year-old was killed in a two-vehicle crash southwest of Listowel, a 19-year-old driver has been charged.

Perth OPP announced on Friday that the North Perth resident had been charged earlier this week with one count of careless driving causing death in relation to the March 18 crash.

Just after 8 a.m. that day, emergency crews were called to the intersection of Perth Line 86 and Perth Road 140, where a commercial vehicle and a passenger vehicle had collided. A 35-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of both vehicles suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The crash kept the intersection closed for several hours.

Police continue to ask anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage from the area around the time of the crash to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

The accused is scheduled to appear in Stratford court in relation to the charge on June 24.
