25-year-old dies after being pulled from Saugeen River

Provincial police say a 25-year-old who ran into trouble while swimming in the Saugeen River in Paisley has died.

Emergency crews were called to the water just after 1:30 p.m. on Monday where the person was in distress. Members of the public were able to bring the swimmer back to shore and attempted to perform lifesaving measures. However, those efforts were unsuccessful and the person was pronounced dead.

South Bruce OPP have identified the deceased as a 25-year-old from Georgetown. Their name is not been released to allow the family privacy.

Police are asking anyone with information about the drowning to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
