Opening of Clinton Raceway delayed

Those ready to head to the races will have to wait a little longer.

Clinton Raceway has applied to amend its 2025 racing season, as construction of the new grandstand isn't quite finished.

"We are confident we will be ready to race on Sunday, June 1, 2025," said Clinton Raceway General Manager Ian Fleming.

The decision to delay the racing season was made on Wednesday, after different options to open were explored.

"Until today, we were confident that we would receive partial occupancy to use the building, however, after further inspections, it is not achievable," Fleming said.

Construction of the new, accessible 400-person capacity grandstand began in the fall of 2024, with hopes that it would be completed by April.

Races scheduled for May 18 and May 25 have been cancelled, while more have been added for September 7 and September 14. The complete, revised racing schedule can be found here.
