Victim loses 60k to crypto scam

A resident of Huron-Kinloss is out $60,000 after falling victim to an online crypto scam.

According to South Bruce OPP, officers were contacted on April 16 and responded to a residence in Huron-Kinloss after a person reported being the victim of a fraud.

The victim told police that they had been trying to invest in cryptocurrency through an online agency. The victim gave access of their devices to the scammer, resulting in a loss of approximately $60,000.

Police are once again warning the public to be very careful with online currency and transactions.

Scammers often use fraudulent documents or links to lure in victims. It is important to not click on suspicious links from unknown senders or to give out personal information online, especially financial information.
