Perth OPP receives provincial grant supporting video surveillance

Perth County OPP is getting over $12,000 in funding from the province to expand its video surveillance systems.

This week, Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae announced that the North Perth detachment will be receiving $12,641 through the Ontario Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Grant Program.

"Our law enforcement officers' work day and night to ensure our rural communities are safe," said MPP Rae. "Our provincial government will be there to provide them with the resources and tools they need to continue to protect Ontario."

The funding can be used to replace outdated equipment, expand or enhance current technology, and install new or additional CCTV surveillance cameras.

Launched in August 2020, the Ontario CCTV Grant program is part of Ontario’s Guns, Gangs and Violence Reduction Strategy.
