County inviting hazardous waste drop-off at weekend event

Bruce County is encouraging residents to come drop off household hazardous waste at an upcoming weekend event.

On Saturday, May 3, residents can come to the Southampton Works Yard from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Household hazardous waste materials include paints and stains, propane tanks, used oil, aerosols, batteries, antifreeze, oil filters, solvents, household cleaners, fluorescent lights, fertilizers, fuel, pharmaceuticals, fire extinguishers, pesticides, and pool chemicals.

There are numerous items that won't be accepted, including commercial, agricultural and industrial waste, PCB’s, ammunitions and flares.

A full list of accepted items and rules around drop-offs can be found here: http://www.brucecounty.on.ca/hazardouswaste.
