Kincardine’s Multicultural Celebration Turns 20

This year marks a major milestone for one of Kincardine’s important community traditions.

The Kincardine Multicultural Celebration is celebrating its 20th anniversary on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the Davidson Centre from 5:30-8:00 p.m. and everyone is invited to join in the festivities.

The event is free to attend and offers a vibrant, interactive experience that invites guests to explore and engage with a wide array of cultures through food, music, art, and storytelling.

Founded in 2005 by Dr. Chandra Tripathi, the celebration began modestly at Huron Heights Public School with around 200 attendees. Over the years, it has grown into a beacon of diversity and inclusion, bringing together hundreds of people from across the community.

“For 20 years, this celebration has been a beacon of unity — bringing people together through the richness of their cultures,” said Dr. Tripathi. “It’s more than an event; it’s a living example of how respect, understanding, and shared joy can strengthen our community.”

Organized by the Kincardine Multicultural Celebration Committee (KMCC) with support from Bruce Power, Swajan Samanvay Santan Centre, the Municipality of Kincardine, and Kincardine District Senior School, the event promotes dialogue, understanding, and appreciation of the cultures and religions represented in the community.

Attendees will be treated to a global experience without leaving town — from ethnic delicacies to traditional performances and educational displays. Cultural groups are encouraged to participate by setting up displays to share their traditions and stories with others.

This 20th anniversary celebration promises not only to honour the past two decades of cultural sharing, but also to inspire continued community connection for years to come.
