More blood donation events coming to Midwestern Ontario

Canadian Blood Services has scheduled more blood donation events in Midwestern Ontario next month.

Another blood donation event will be held in Owen Sound on Wednesday, May 28 at the Owen Sound Legion, located at 1450 2nd Avenue West. It will run from 2-7 p.m.

With nicer weather ahead, Canadian Blood Services is hopeful that the donor base will grow significantly over the next few months to meet extremely high demand for blood and plasma.

According to CBS, Canada needs 450 new donors every day this coming month to meet the growing need for blood and plasma.

About 230 new donors give every day on average across Canada. But Canadian Blood Services needs to double that number to meet the growing need for blood and plasma.

To register to donate, visit blood.ca, download the GiveBlood app or call 1-888-2-DONATE.
