Music lovers young and old will be able to learn about instruments and see musicians in action at an event in Clinton this weekend.
The Huron Honour Band, which is made up of young people from across the county, will host its Music Open House at Central Huron Secondary School from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
As part of the free event, members of the Honour Band will provide masterclasses on instruments. Those in attendance will be able to learn about the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, guitar, violin, and percussion.
"Music is a universal language that everyone can relate to,” said organizer and Huron Honour Band member Braelynn Dalton. “Through the open house, we will have a wide variety of youth and community members connecting, learning and teaching each other more about music. The open house will be an opportunity for people of all ages to try out a variety of instruments and learn more about how they work.”
Following the masterclasses, band members will perform a free concert in the school cafeteria. They will be joined by Ava Dawe, King Prawns, and the Central Huron Secondary School Saxophone Quartet.
“I think the best part is that our open house will have a vast range of wind instruments and music being made so almost everyone is guaranteed to find something they will enjoy,” Dalton added.
Funding for the open house was provided by the Huron County Economic Development Supporting Local Youth Grant.
Anyone interested in attending the open house can register by emailing huronhonourband@gmail.com or aaron.neeb@ed.amdsb.ca.
