Charges laid after damage to police vehicle in Wingham

Huron County OPP have charged a North Huron resident after a police vehicle was damaged.

On March 19, police investigated damage that had been caused to a parked and unattended OPP cruiser on Josephine Street in Wingham.

Officers located and arrested a suspect, who ran off and was involved in a brief struggle with officers. Investigators also say the suspect allegedly moved storm drain covers, which created hazards for vehicles and pedestrians.

A 28-year-old North Huron resident has been arrested and faces charges including mischief and resisting a police officer. The accused was additionally charged with an offence under the Liquor Licence Control Act.

The accused was released from custody with an appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on April 28, 2025.
