MPP Thompson retains Rural Affairs portfolio in Ford's cabinet shuffle

Premier Doug Ford has unveiled his new cabinet following the PC's third straight majority government on February 27, 2025.

Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson will retain her work as Minister of Rural Affairs. However, Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae and Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Paul Vickers were not appointed to cabinet.

Ford says his government’s priority is to protect Ontario’s economy and workers, particularly in the face of trade uncertainty with the United States.

“As Ontario faces one of the greatest challenges in our history, workers and families are counting on us to stand up for their jobs and wellbeing,” Ford said. “No matter what, we will protect Ontario.”

Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Trevor Jones is the new Minister of Agriculture and Agribusiness. Jones takes over from Rob Flack, who is the new Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
