Former university, college prof to head Brockton Child Care Centre

The Municipality of Brockton has tapped a former University of Guelph-Humber and Humber Polytechnic faculty member to take over the top spot at the Brockton Child Care Centre.

Carri-Ann Scott was named Wednesday as the incoming manager of child care services.

“Investing in quality child care is investing in the future of our community, and we are confident that Carri-Ann’s leadership will create a nurturing and enriching environment for our children," Mayor Chris Peabody said in a statement. "We look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make for families in our community.”

In her new position, Scott will be responsible for the overall strategic management and operations of the Brockton Child Care Centre, which includes ensuring it is in compliance with the Child Care & Early Years Act, the Ministry of Education, County of Bruce Children Services, and Grey Bruce Public Health. She will also oversee the annual budget and human resource activities.

Scott has more than 20 years of experience as a registered early childhood educator and holds a masters of educational technology, an honours bachelor of applied science in early childhood studies, and a childhood education diploma. According to the municipality, she will bring a strong background in program development, fiscal management, compliance with regulatory frameworks, and team mentorship to the role.

"I am incredibly excited to join this amazing team and contribute to creating a warm, supportive, and enriching environment for children and families," said Scott. "Quality child care plays a vital role in our community, and I look forward to working alongside dedicated professionals to make a positive impact every day.”

Scott's first day on the job will be March 31.
