South Bruce OPP is investigating a break-in to several storage units at the Graceland property that hosts Lucknow's Music in the Fields.
Festival organizers were alerted after a concerned citizen walking trails in the area found some wiring on Sunday. An inspection of the property revealed three sea cans used for storage had their locks cut.
According to police, a large quantity of copper, aluminum and steel wiring, circuit breakers and electrical panels were either stolen or heavily damaged. Officers estimate the loss is worth approximately $50,000.
The break-in could have occurred anytime between October 2024 and March 17, 2025.
"This is deeply disappointing to the committee and directors," Cheryl Johnston, Marketing Director for Music in the Fields said in an email. "It really is disheartening to be taken advantage of. But the worst part is that the money that we will have to use to replace and repair could have been given back into the community like food banks, hospitals and schools. It's just such a waste."
"This all comes right before we are about to announce our line up for 2025," Johnston continued. "To be excited about the work we have put in since last year to get an amazing talent for our lineup for this year now has a dark cloud over it. But it will have no bearing on if the show will go on. We will be ready for August 21-23."
Those that have any information regarding the thefts are asked to contact South Bruce OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a secure web-tip at www.cstip.ca.
