Flood Watch issued for Arran-Elderslie and Brockton as water levels rise across local watersheds

Saugeen Conservation has upgraded its previous Flood Outlook to a Flood Watch for the municipalities of Arran-Elderslie and Brockton, while a Water Safety Statement remains in effect for several other communities, including Grey Highlands, Hanover, Howick, Kincardine, Minto, Morris-Turnberry, Saugeen Shores, South Bruce, Southgate, Wellington North, West Grey, and Chatsworth.

Unseasonably warm temperatures and weekend rainfall have led to significant snowmelt, causing water levels in local rivers and streams to rise. While smaller watercourses have peaked, they remain high, with some overflowing into low-lying areas. The Main Saugeen River continues to rise and is expected to peak late Monday.

In Arran-Elderslie and Brockton, flooding has forced the closure of multiple roads and bridges due to unsafe conditions. Residents in these areas are urged to stay informed through municipal and county updates.

Authorities are reminding the public not to attempt to drive or walk through flooded areas, as water levels can rise quickly, cutting off access routes. Watercourses remain hazardous, and conditions are expected to remain unpredictable throughout the week.

The Flood Watch and Water Safety Statement will remain in effect until Friday, March 21, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. Saugeen Conservation will continue to monitor watershed conditions and provide updates as needed. Residents can report flooding in their area through the Saugeen Conservation website.
