Town releases statement regarding harassment of municipal workers

The Town of Saugeen Shores has issued a statement regarding recent incidents of municipal staff being harassed.

According to the release, since January of this year, the Town of Saugeen Shores has received several harassment complaints filed by Town staff involving members of the public.

The Town says staff and leadership take these matters very seriously. The release goes on to say that the Town is "committed to the prevention of workplace violence, discrimination and harassment and recognizes its responsibility to maintain a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with the Town’s Workplace Violence, Harassment, and Discrimination Policy and the Occupational Health and Safety Act."

The release states that inappropriate engagement with municipal staff will not be tolerated, and staff look forward to "respectful and active public engagement."
