Unable to rule out foul play, the nearly two-month old investigation into the disappearance of a 32-year-old Southampton man is now being led by the OPP criminal investigation branch.
Brendan Martin was last seen on January 18 and was reported missing to Saugeen Shores police two days later. Searches for Martin have so far turned up no sign of him.
On Friday, police noted that some of the 32-year-old's personal effects, including a guitar and backpack, have also not been located. They released new pictures of Martin and the outstanding items, in hopes the public can aid in the search.
"With heavy snow and ice beginning to melt, investigators are urging residents to thoroughly check their properties for signs of Brendan or his belongings, including any outbuildings or sheds," police said in a statement.
Martin is described as Indigenous, 6' tall, 195 lbs, with a thin build. He was last seen in Southampton wearing a black/navy winter coat and tan-coloured work boots. he has connections to Owen Sound, Barrie and the Saugeen Shores First Nation communities, police added.
