United Way Perth-Huron (UWPH) says it will have a plan to address the challenges that arise from the ongoing threat of tariffs, with details to come.
The organization pointed to its long history of helping the community through times of economic uncertainty, and says it is working social service and economic development partners on a strategy.
"United Way has a long history of addressing the most pressing issues in the region," said Ryan Erb, UWPH Executive Director in a release. "We responded quickly to support the Goderich community after the tornado, rose to the occasion during COVID, and we will do it again now. We will announce more details of our plans in the near future."
UWPH said the strategy will address food insecurity, mental health and well-being and support for workers through the organization’s Urgent Needs Fund.
In order to help at the moment, United Way is asking for help hitting it's annual fundraising goal. According to the website, the campaign is around $300,000 shy of its $2.6 million goal.
All donations support those already facing challenges, as well as those who will need help moving forward. Campaign donations are accepted until the end of March.
"Your generosity helps us provide vital resources in a time when our community needs it most," said Erb. "In these uncertain times, it’s more important than ever to support one another. Together, we can make a real difference."
