Cocaine, weapon seized during arrest of wanted Port Elgin man

A Port Elgin man wanted for robbery has been arrested by Saugeen Shores police.

Earlier this week, officers were out on general patrol when they spotted a man they knew to have an outstanding warrant for robbery. The man initially resisted arrest before being successfully taken into custody, police said in a statement on Thursday.

A large quantity of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and cash were seized during the arrest. A prohibited weapon was also found in the man's waist band, police said.

A 38-year-old Port Elgin man is charged with robbery, resisting arrest, possession of drugs, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a prohibited device, failure to comply release order, and failure to comply with probation order.

The man has appeared in court in relation to the charges and was remanded into custody.
