The Town of Saugeen Shores will be paying tribute to former Southampton Mayor Lloyd Hale by lowering its municipal flags to half-staff.
Hale died last Friday at the age of 91. He served as mayor from 1980 to 1982.
"The town remains grateful for his many contributions and dedicated service to our community," Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau said in a statement. "On behalf of council and all residents of Saugeen Shores, I extend my heartfelt condolences to Mayor Hale's family and friends during this difficult time."
Charbonneau has directed that all municipal flags be flown at half-staff on Thursday, the day of Hale's funeral.
The funeral service is being held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home in Owen Sound at noon, with interment to take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society can be made in Hale's honour.
