Huron Perth Public Health is warning those vulnerable to measles that they may have been exposed to the virus if the visited the Stratford General Hospital this weekend.
According to an HPPH release, the exposure occurred in the emergency room on Sunday, March 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"If you were present at this location during this timeframe, were born in 1970 or later, and are not up to date with your measles vaccinations, please call public health," read the statement. "This includes those who were only present briefly as measles is highly contagious and can linger in the air for up to two hours."
Last week, Huron and Perth Counties were declared "areas of concern" for measles. The Health Unit completes case management and contact tracing for confirmed cases of measles, but when not everyone can be reached, the public is notified of a possible community exposure.
