Provincial police are asking the public for help identifying a pair of suspects in a break-in that saw roughly $25,000 worth of merchandise stolen from a Walkerton business.
South Bruce OPP officers were called to the unnamed business on Durham Street East just before 1 a.m. on March 2. Police found thieves had smashed glass in order to gain entry to the building. They did not specify whether the glass was from a window or a door.
A witness had spotted two people running from the area after the incident. They were last seen in a dark coloured vehicle in the area of Durham Street East and Colborne Street South.
On Tuesday, police released photos and descriptions of two suspects believed to have been involved in the break-in. The first is said to have been wearing dark coloured pants, a black jacket with white stripes along the sleeves, a black balaclava, and was carrying an orange and black grocery bag. The second suspect had on a white jacket, grey toque, a face covering, and was carrying a white and black grocery bag.
Anyone who recognizes the suspects or who has information about the break-in is asked to call police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
Police are also reminding the public to always report suspicious behaviour and to consider installing security cameras, additional lighting, and/or alarms to help deter thieves. Those who have security cameras are additionally asked to consider registering them with the CAMSafe program at camsafe.ca.
