Hanover hospital raising funds for new fluoroscopy machine

The Hanover and District Hospital Foundation (HDHF) is launching a fundraising campaign to support the purchase of a new fluoroscopy machine.

The medical imaging tool offers real-time X-ray visuals, allowing physicians to see movement inside specific parts of the body. The fluoroscopy will help assess organ function, guide procedures with precision, and expedite critical medical decisions.

The foundations said last year, over 30 per cent of emergency visits at the hospital required fluoroscopy, underscoring its importance in delivering timely and effective patient care.

"The addition of a new fluoroscopy machine will allow our medical team to provide faster, more accurate diagnoses while reducing the need for patient transfers," said Laura McCullough, Manager of Diagnostic Imaging, Infection Control and Laboratory at HDH. "This investment will significantly improve patient outcomes and ensure our community continues to receive high-quality care close to home."

The ultimate goal of the fundraising campaign is $800,000, but the first step in that is the upcoming 2025 Enchanted Garden Gala.

Scheduled for May 31 at Ground Effects Landscaping Special Events Centre, the event will feature a gourmet dinner, music, as well as live and silent auction, with proceeds directly supporting the fluoroscopy machine initiative.

The HDHF is hoping to raise $100,000 at the gala.
