Snow squalls and blowing snow today into this evening.

This snow squall warning replaces the winter weather travel advisory previously in effect.  

What:
Reduced visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow.
Local snowfall accumulations 5 to 10 cm.

When:
Now into this evening.

Additional information:
Lake effect snow squalls have developed again to the lee of Lake Huron. Along with northwest winds gusting up to 70 km/h, this is resulting in poor visibility in bands of heavy snow and areas of blowing snow. Reduced visibility will be the main concern. Snowfall accumulations are not expected to be significant as the bands move around. The snow bands are expected to weaken or move out of the area tonight.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility. Road closures are possible.

Environment Canada is cautioning against travelling around Midwestern Ontario on Saturday.The weather agency issued a travel advisory Saturday, calling for reduced visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow.Lake effect snow has developed again off of Lake Huron, and while accumulations are not expected to be significant — around five to 10 cm — motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions.A snow squall warning has been issued for Huron County.There is also a travel advisory in effect for Bruce, Grey, Perth and North and East Lambton County.Drivers are asked to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
