The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth (HSKWSP) is marking the return of its "Bake for the Animals" fundraising campaign. The month-long initiative gives people three ways to support animals in the care of the humane society.
The first way is through hosting a bake sale. Participants can sign up online to bake sweet treats to sell at their school, office or to family and friends. Once registered, those taking part can set up their profile to collect contactless payments and donations in exchange for the homemade treats. The humane society will provide registrants with a host kit and free downloadable party materials to help the bake sale be a success.
“Bake for the Animals is one of our most beloved fundraisers,” said HSKWSP Chief Executive Officer Victoria Baby. “It’s amazing to see our community come together to bake treats that change lives. Every dollar raised helps us provide care and shelter to animals in need.”
For those who don't know their way around a kitchen, the humane society is offering another fundraising option - the Pastry Path. It allows people to travel around to nearly a dozen participating local bakeries and coffee shops, collecting stamps and tasty treats for a chance to win a prize. Stamp cards can be picked up at both the Kitchener and Stratford animal centres and the participating shops. A list of the bakeries and coffee shops taking part can be found at kwsphumane.ca.
“This event is a fun and easy way for anyone to get involved,” said Director of Development Jordan Baker. “Whether you’re baking at home, selling treats at work, or exploring local bakeries, every effort helps support the animals we care for.”
The third way to give without the need to bake or eat any sweet treats is simply by making a donation online.
