The Town of Saugeen Shores will use a $1.9 million dollar grant to develop Ridge Street from Ivings Drive to Bruce Road 25.
The funding comes through the Housing-Enabling Core Servicing (HECS) stream of the Provincial Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP).
"We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Province for providing this vital funding,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “This support will help increase connectivity within our community, foster sustainable growth, and bolster opportunities for future housing supply. Together, we are building a more vibrant and connected community for everyone."
The street will join the Bluewater Estate subdivision to Bruce County road 25, providing alternative route parallel to HWY 21 for the Saugeen Shores community.
It will also create access to future housing lots.
This project is approved in the Town's 10-year capital plan for 2025 and 2026 with the Provincial grant covering 50 percent of the cost. Water and sanitary mains have already been installed on this Town-owned road allowance which is currently open for pedestrian use only.
