Volunteer firefighters needed in Lucknow and Ripley-Huron

The Lucknow & District and Ripley-Huron Fire Departments are calling on dedicated individuals to step forward and serve their communities as volunteer firefighters.

According to a media release, no prior experience is necessary - just a willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to public safety.

To help potential recruits understand the role, the departments will host two Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment Open Houses. The first will be held at the Lucknow Fire Hall on Monday, February 10, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., followed by a second session at the Ripley Fire Hall on Tuesday, February 11, during the same hours.

At these events, Fire Chief Jeff Bradley and current volunteers will provide insights into the responsibilities, training, and level of commitment required for the role. Spouses are encouraged to attend to better understand the dedication involved.

Volunteer firefighters play a vital role in their communities, responding to emergencies and promoting fire safety. By joining, recruits will help protect their community during emergencies while gaining valuable skills in fire prevention, emergency response, and rescue. They will also help educate the public on fire safety and preparedness. Volunteer firefighters will join a dedicated and supportive team, as part of a respected tradition built on service, pride, and honour.
