A dairy farmer from Meaford has been chosen as the Progressive Conservative candidate for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound in the next provincial election.
Paul Vicker's nomination was decided during a meeting on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Harry Lumley Bayshore in Owen Sound. He defeated three other contenders: Brock Hamley, Christine Robinson, and Stephen Townsend. The nomination became available after MPP Rick Byers announced he was not seeking re-election.
With experience on Meaford council and as a director with the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, Vickers told those attending the meeting that he plans to focus on issues such as agriculture, healthcare, and economic growth in the riding.
The next provincial election is scheduled for June 2026, though speculation persists about a potential earlier vote.
