Arran-Elderslie approves 2025 budget

Arran-Elderslie has approved its budget for 2025.

At the January 13 council meeting, the budget for 2025 was set and approved by Arran-Elderslie staff and council members.

According to a release, the 2025 budget "responds to key needs in the community despite significant economic pressures and challenging infrastructure needs."

The final numbers for the 2025 budget are $11.9 million for operating and $3.8 million for capital with a total Municipality of Arran-Elderslie tax levy set at $7.3 million.

This means an overall municipal property tax rate increase of 5 percent and a blended rate increase of approximately 4.5 percent when combined with the proposed County of Bruce and School Board rates.

Key projects for 2025 in Arran-Elderslie include:

Roads – 3rd Street SW Chesley Reconstruction; Concession 6 (Elderslie) Reconstruction; Side

Road 15 (Arran) Rehabilitation and Reconstruction

Equipment – New Plow Truck for Elderslie Shop

Recreation – Ice chillers for the Paisley and Chesley Community Centres

Fire Service – New Paisley Firehall and Public Works Building build

Planning & Infrastructure – Development Charges Review

Civic Engagement – Corporate Website Redesign more user friendly and accessible

Community Engagement – Electoral Review of Ward vs at-Large System
